EV Drivetrain and Battery Engineer

As a member of the Electric Drivetrain Engineering team, you will play an active role in development of the company's battery systems for self-propelled freight railcars, addressing challenging requirements for durability and longevity. This position is in-person and requires the candidate to be onsite in St. Louis, MO.

Responsibilities

• Execute conceptual and detailed design tasks related to mechanical elements of the powertrain/drivetrain system
• Mechanical and electrical design and development of battery components, including but not limited to battery modules, current collectors/busbars, coolant systems, disconnect module, etc
• Design components for manufacturing using high-volume processes
• Component analysis (FEA/CAE/CFD)
• Complete DFMEA and other APQP tasks
• Complete 3D mechanical design using CATIA/3DExperience
• Complete 2D drawings
• Participate in design reviews and peer reviews
• Executing laboratory testing including material testing/coupon testing
• Collaborate with manufacturing colleagues to ensure Design for Manufacturing (DFM) requirements are met
  

Required Skills and Experience

• Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, manufacturing engineering or a related field
• 3+ years of experience in automotive, aerospace with electromechanical/multidisciplinary product design
• U.S. Person (immigration or work visa sponsorship will not be provided)
• Understanding of design for high-volume manufacturing processes
• Experience with 3D modeling software and GD&T
• Electric Vehicle (EV) experience strongly desirable
  

Typical Education and Experience:

Education/experience typically acquired through advanced technical education (e.g. Bachelor or higher) and typically 3 or more years' related work experience.
