Role Overview:
We are seeking a Thermal Management Engineer to design and optimize the cooling system performance of our advanced electric rail vehicles. This role is pivotal in ensuring the successful and reliable operations of our electrical controllers, battery systems, and electric motor systems. You will collaborate in multi-disciplinary efforts involving algorithms, systems development, and integration, driving innovation from concept through to deployment.
Key Responsibilities:
- System Development: Design and optimize integrated thermal management systems for battery packs, electric propulsion, and pneumatics, including cooling and heating solutions
- Design Analyses: Conduct thermal design, analyses and simulations to predict system performance under various operating conditions, to inform design optimization, build, and operations
- Integration & Verification: Collaborate with electrical and mechanical engineers to integrate thermal management systems with other system components, and validate system performance
- Lifecycle Support: Address and resolve issues related to fielded systems, providing comprehensive support of thermal performance and reliability throughout the product lifecycle
- Innovation & Research: Stay abreast of technological advancements and recommend potential applications and technology investments to enhance our solutions

About You:
Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):
- Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical or Thermal Engineering, or a related field
- 4+ years of experience with thermal management system design, power and cooling systems
- Proficiency in thermal analysis software (e.g., ANSYS, COMSOL) and CAD tools (e.g., AutoCAD)
- Strong understanding of heat transfer principles, thermal modeling, and system integration
- Willingness to expand into technical areas beyond your area of expertise; ability to develop innovative and novel approaches
- Open-minded and comfortable working in a teaming environment
- Fluent in both written and verbal English
Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):
- Experience with battery technology and electric propulsion systems
- Experience in directly applicable industry or projects, such as Rail or Electric Vehicles
- 9 or more years' related work experience
- Demonstrated experience working across organizational boundaries
