Role Overview: We are seeking a Senior RAMS (Reliability, Availability, Maintainability, and Safety) Engineer to join the engineering team supporting growing demands in the development of self-propelled rail vehicles. This role is pivotal in ensuring our systems meet stringent requirements for reliability, availability, maintainability, and safety throughout their lifecycle. You will work within multi-disciplinary teams to define, analyze, verify, and validate RAMS performance for our autonomous, battery-electric platforms.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with stakeholders to define and document complex system requirements related to RAMS.
  • Prepare and perform RAMS analyses for systems and components.
  • Develop RAMS plans and strategies for new systems and modifications.
  • Assess RAMS performance on assigned scope and identify necessary requirements to achieve RAMS targets.
  • Perform detailed analyses such as Failure Mode and Effect Analysis (FMEA), Fault Tree Analysis (FTA), and Reliability Predictions.
  • Apply relevant Safety processes and instructions.
  • Ensure system designs comply with relevant industry standards and regulations
  • Test and validate system performance to ensure both operational and functional RAMS requirements are met.
  • Address and resolve issues related to fielded systems, providing comprehensive support throughout the product lifecycle.
  • Address comments from Customers and/or Independent parties to secure approval for safety deliverables.
  • Contribute to the development of safety cases for regulatory certification.
  • Stay abreast of technological advancements and recommend potential applications and technology investments to enhance our solutions.
  • Develop and maintain RAMS documentation and reports.
  • Define maintainability requirements and strategies.

About You: Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):

  • At least a Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, Mathematics, Science, or a related field.
  • 5 or more years of experience working with RAMS activities or safety-critical systems.
  • Experience with performing relevant analyses.
  • Willingness to expand into technical areas beyond your area of expertise; ability to develop innovative and novel approaches.
  • Open-minded and comfortable working in a teaming environment or as an individual contributor.
  • U.S. Person (immigration or work visa sponsorship will not be provided).
  • Fluent in both written and verbal English.

Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):

  • Experience in directly applicable industry or projects, such as Rail, Electric Vehicles, or Unmanned Systems.
  • 9 or more years' related work experience.
  • Experience working across organizational boundaries.
  • Experience with safety-critical systems development and certification.
  • Knowledge and experience working with railway systems in the US and/or internationally.
  • Experience with Model-Based Design.
  • Experience with specific RAMS analysis techniques (e.g., FMEA, FTA, Reliability Prediction) or relevant standards

Typical Education and Experience: Education/experience typically acquired through advanced technical education (e.g. Bachelor and/or Master) and typically 5 or more years' related work experience.
